boredom, boredom burning bright
tell me tales of adventure and woe
keep me in knowledge and life
	when staying in my home

i connect through fingers
	and thought
		typing and reading and moving naught
	the web is large and gritty and lovely 
		we’re caught like fly in a spider’s parlor
	i look for matthew gray gubler
		my crush on murder tv
			then i find another show 
		do i want to see?

boredom, boredom burning bright
	wikipedia is life
		always another blue word to click
			how am I learning about losing one’s sight
	youTube keeps me in music
		miley cyrus forming into rock
			the way i watch nate ruess’ mouth when he sings
				they’re all in my dreams

connection and zoom
	pictures and texts and telephone calls
so many people have seen my puerto rican curls
(i mean, are you people even real)
poetry readings once a fortnight 	
a new friend to make 
	if i form the effort to say hello

Thanks. I have long believed that (most) poetry is meant to be read out loud; It brings a whole new quality to the writing, assuming it is well read.

I really enjoyed this take on the prompt! My mind immediately went to spiders, but this was a really clever spin to take. A lot of people are caught in "the web" right now, and finding real human connections over the internet is difficult - I'm ready to be back in the real world soon!

Also, can I say I just love love love that background on your video - what beautiful fabrics!

Thank you. The background is in the office at my girlfriend's house -- I can't take credit, but it is great.

I do have friends that I have met online; Some I have met in person, some I have not, but friendships stand strong.

Ah! What would we do without the web?

I've totally given up on TV. I watch Youtube, I listen to audiobooks, I watch DVDs, I knit, I zoom with friends and loved ones and it's all here, right here where I sit in front of my PC.

It really is a small world after all.

All our tv is through Roku connected to our tv. So, yeah, basically all online. So many different ways you've listed are so important for our mental health and social lives. I have made a new friend at an online poetry open mic. My kid does all his work online and does not attend school this year. I see my therapist and doctors via internet (not all the time for docs, sometimes I still have to go in person, like for my migraine botox).

The web is so important, especially more so these days. It really is like a huge lifeline to so many other people and things.

I wondered if anyone would use the internet as the 'web' in this week's prompt, and this is exactly the use I was thinking of. Escapism, knowledge-tunneling, and getting caught up in All The Things is one of the few things that makes us feel sane these days.

Those are pretty awesome-looking curls. How do you avoid frizz, or are you just lucky?

I avoid frizz by living in a place with low humidity. :D
