Never read it, but the trailer looks like fun. I'm obviously missing the whole emotional experience.

Me too! But I'm sure since my sisters liked it that I associated it as a "girls" book. Plus I was probably too busy eating up Asimov's Foundation series at the time.
Trailer does look cool, though. Glad it's live-action rather than animated.
