State of the Pillar (part 4) -- and Hedral, too!

It's been awhile. miss_pillar is doing great. All the stitches and staples and medicines and what not are out and gone and history. Her fur is growing back quite nicely.




She has adapted amazingly! We've noticed that she now walks with her back leg centered to make more of an isosceles triangle for balance purposes. She also pivots now instead of turning around. When she runs you honestly can't tell that she is a tripod; she totally keeps up with sir_hedral. When she is ambling along the limp is far more pronounced, but she doesn't seem to care. Her *freak outs* about (we assume) not having a leg are just about nonexistent now. We can cuddle and touch and pet her, including the amputation spot without a negative reaction -- usually purrrs, in fact.

Once the staples and cone were gone Hedral was immediately cool with her again. He has lost some of his independence since she's ceased convalescing; He stopped opening doors for himself (which he learned to do while she was gone). We are a bit sad about that, but apparently Hedral is just a little bit Lazy...



We do believe, more and more, that she was hit by a car. She has weasled her way outside (by whining, looking pathetic, escaping and doing so well -- so she can go out again) but will NOT cross the parking lot "street." We were doing laundry and they were following us, she REFUSED to go to the "street." She sat down and made pitiful noises. Ian was carrying her today and went towards the street and she scratched him up on her way out of his arms when he got to close. I kinda approve of this fear.


They have decided that our Great Big Foof Chair is their bed. These are apparently spoiled cats. Such wonderful, awesome, lovey, cuddly, soft, cats!

You know, you say you think she may have been hit by a car. It's likely ... but seriously, how would you NOT know you hit a cat? And then how would you just drive off, not even looking to see if the cat or animal belonged to someone? That just angers me.

Another possibility: Someone I knew once accidentally hit a cat (maybe, hopefully, just clipped a bit). He stopped to look for it, to see if it was ok -- but it was no where to be found. We don't know if it was thrown somewhere out of sight or if it ran off. I'm certain he would have taken the cat to the vet if it had been found. He was very very distraught (at the time) when he called to tell me about it. (I almost went out to drive him home... but managed to calm him over the phone enough for him to drive himself.)

For Pillar: I'm very glad to read she is recovering SO well. She looks like she's doing great in that video! I love the purr-trill-meow she makes when she jumps up on the couch. (My silver tabby does that too... in her case, she's asking me to play with her.)
